I began “Processing” in November 2016 while working through anxiety in the lead up to the Presidential Election.

When Trump won, I began painting and repainting the piece as I worked through my emotions - anger, depression, fear. I finished the piece in November of 2020, a few days after Trump lost his bid for re-election. The final imagery reflects my feelings about the challenges we face as a nation heading into the next decade.

As I worked through my own feelings about the state of the country, I documented the different layers I added to the painting over the years.

Here, I’ve taken these photos and matched them to the dimensions of the painting - effectively a timelapse of the painting, and also my reactions to the events over Trump’s term in office.
